MILTON, Ga. — Michael Malkowski, a rising senior at Milton High School, was named STR8UP SPORTS male student athlete at the end of the 2017 academic school year. Malkowski was presented with this award at the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce Breakfast May 31.
Malkowski received the award for his academic, athletic and civic accomplishments. This past 2017 track and field season, he was the Fulton County Champion in the 800 meter and 1600 meter.
He followed by taking podium finishes in both the 800 meters and the 1600 meters, finishing as state runner-up in the 1600 with a time of 4:15.60. Malkowski was also sixth place in the 7A state cross country championships in Fall 2016.
Malkowski’s love for running and racing makes him want to compete at the next level in college.
“Michael is one of the hardest working athletes I have ever coached,” Milton cross country and track and field head coach Andy Carr said.
“He is a student of the sport, knows and follows his competition and is one athlete who is ready for any situation that comes his way. Michael is always ready to step-up to a challenge and looks forward to big races where he can improve his times but also become a better runner and racer,” Carr said.
